Promoting Best Practices in Environmental Management of the Mining and Quarrying Sector in Jamaica

This publication was created by the Jamaica Environment Trust (JET) with funding from the Inter-American Foundation (IAF) under the project ‘Strengthening the capacity of Jamaican communities to protect their environmental rights’ 2013-2016. This report examines gaps and challenges in the existing legal framework and local practices for managing mining and quarrying impacts in Jamaica. Recommendations for specific areas of legal reform to incorporate a range of best practices are suggested.
